Wirral Met has launched an AAT Accounts and Finance Assistant Apprenticeship starting this April 2021 and Liverpool City Region firms of all sizes and sectors are encouraged to look at the benefits of taking on apprentices.

With the prime minister unveiling his roadmap to recovery from the Covid-19 pandemic, there is now an air of optimism and local businesses should take full advantage of the recovery by investing in and recruiting the right people with the right skills.

Internationally recognised by AAT, the level 2 Accounts and Finance Assistant Apprenticeship starts on 12th April 2021 and will fully train apprentices in commercial law, contracts, data protection and money laundering. Apprentices will be fully qualified and ready to complete their apprenticeship in 15 months. The programme will involve day release so that college attendance can be committed to on a weekly basis (Monday).

Hiring an apprentice is more cost effective than other ways of hiring, so businesses can save on training and recruitment costs. As many as 92% of employers who take on apprentices report a more motivated and satisfied workforce (AAT). But apprenticeships aren't just for new hires, there is no upper age limit, so they can also be used to train existing employees and help them gain new skills and qualifications.

The Accounts and Finance Assistant apprenticeship is fully-funded, meaning employers have zero costs to pay, and if an employer hires a new apprentice before 31st March 2021, they could receive a new payment up to £2,000 (T&Cs apply), in addition to the existing £1,000 apprenticeship levy.

Plus, for every apprentice enrolled on to the apprenticeship, we will offer up to 8 free places on our new online workforce development (CPD) courses, including IT User Skills, Equality & Diversity, Digital Skills in Employment and Principles of Customer Service – saving employers’ hundreds of pounds in course fees!

With zero costs to employers and a lot to gain from hiring an accountancy apprentice, why wait? To take the first step in hiring an apprentice, contact our friendly Employer Services team on 0151 551 7610 or email This email address is being protected from spambots.
