Students from Hair and Beauty were treated to a talk from Eve Jenkins, star of BBC's Glow Up, and celebrity and brand stylist Beth Jones.

Eve, a makeup artist from the Wirral, shot to mainstream prominence appearing in the BBC series Glow Up: Britain’s Next Makeup Star, where she reached the finals, placing 3rd.

Beth, a personal stylist, has worked with huge brands such as Primark, as well as styling stars such as Little Mix’s Jade Thirlwall.

Eve and Beth gave students insight into what it takes to work in their industry and provided lots of helpful advice for students during their Hair and Beauty journey.

The talk featured a variety of helpful topics and anecdotes to prepare students for their careers.

Students were taught a variety of skills from networking to negotiation, as well as how they could grow their own businesses, and the power of social media.

Students took part in question and answer sessions with the pair, and were rewarded with goody bags featuring a range of cosmetic items. Students also had the opportunity to take photographs with our guest speakers.

Hollie Williams, a VTCT Diploma in Fashion, Theatre and Media Hair and Make Up Studies student said “I found the talk really inspirational. It also helped me find my starting point for business.”

Meanwhile, Keira Godfrey, also of VTCT Diploma in Fashion, Theatre and Media Hair and Make Up Studies, said that the talk “would help me grow and go further with my makeup.”

We would like to thank Eve and Beth sharing their time, and their inspirational stories with us at Wirral Met College.
